Energy generation at RDM

As part of our commitment to energy, RDM has further reduced its carbon footprint and spearheaded a new iniative: Wind generated energy.

RDM'S wind turbine energy initiative

At RDM's headquarters in Glasgow, a two year project to install the first turbine has been successfully completed, with a secondary turbine to follow soon after.

When both turbines are operational, they will supply a nominal
30kw of power. This more than covers RDM’s night load and approximately 60 to 70% of daytime load.

RDM’s Managing director, Andrew Chandler said:

‘We have taken the initiative because I believe strongly in doing as much as possible to help reduce the company’s carbon footprint, raise its environmental credentials and promote new technology. Our customers such as Marks and Spencer have committed to a sustainable approach to their business; this project reflects our commitment to them in achieving sustainability throughout the supply chain.’

Richard Gillies, Director of Plan A for Marks & Spencer said:

"Our suppliers RDM are experts on energy efficiency, as they provide high quality FM services and equipment to M&S. The equipment enables us to control and monitor the performance of our energy systems. including refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation. But they have also gone above and beyond in reducing their own carbon footprint".

"We want to congratulate RDM for persevering with their project despite the difficulties they faced, and for their genuine commitment to taking Plan A forward"
